Sunbutter Sandwiches
I developed a nut and peanut allergy as an adult. As a result, I have been forced to give up all peanut related products. One of my favorite lunches as a kid was peanut butter sandwiches..one of my favorite breakfasts was peanut butter toast.
While grocery shopping over the weekend, I impulsively bought a loaf of white bread that was on sale. Though I felt guilty at the time, that feeling did not carry over into Monday. I had some previously purchases sun butter which I most often use to dip apple slices in. Sunbutter is like peanut butter but made with ground sunflower seeds instead. So,I brought a sunbutter sandwich for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. It gave me such pleasure and at least for a few moments, I felt like a kid!
Wrapping up a project
There are few feelings in the world like the feeling of accomplishment. In the daily grind of my profession..it's hard to feel a true sense of accomplishment. However, last week an ongoing fairly major procurement was completed. On Monday, I reviewed and organized all the documents in both the procurement file and the new vendor file. When I went to file both away, it gave me a great sense of accomplishment to have this task done and over...and successful. It's always nice to get something "off my desk".
My Monday was my Wednesday
I am only working a three day week today due to an upcoming Lions convention..so there is something to be said for going in on a Monday morning with the knowledge that there are only two days left for your work week!

April 24, 2016 - A Sunday
Breakfast at Marie's In Salisbury
I am grateful for this on a number of levels. This was a new place for Jim, Chris and I to try. Jim and I first came here for a fundraiser spaghetti supper and noticed the tasty sounding choices on the breakfast menu. Since breakfast is my absolutely favorite meal to go out for we decided to try something new. It did not disappoint and will definitely go into the breakfast rotation. Great food and great company was just the way to start the day.
Not Just Any Walk Along the Beach
After breakfast, we continued on towards the coast and Hampton Beach to walk off breakfast and enjoy the ocean air and beautiful weather. The beach, really almost any beach will do, is one of my favorite places but today was a bonus because there was a small group of people horseback riding along the beach. Horses and the beach- a combination of two of my favorite concepts. It was bonus day at the beach...again great and treasured company.
The Scent of Things to Come
When we arrived home from the beach there was no mistaking the lovely fragrant scent that greeted us as we walked up the front walk. The lilacs are coming. No doubt they've still a ways to go, but the leaves on the bush are starting to bud and with them is the faintest fragrance of the beauty soon to come.
Today was an easy one. If every day were just like today...ohhh..if only...

With Simple Gratitude
In a world that seems to travel at astounding speed, sometimes it's beneficial to remember the simple things. In my little corner of the world, it is often a challenge just to make it through the day without the constant bombardment of negative thoughts and ideas. I suppose it doesn't help that it is currently a Presidential election year, but even beyond that it seems that everyone is in a hurry, everyone is 'always right' and taking time to stop and assess who and where we are in life feels like a luxury rather than a daily habit. It certainly feels that way for me...which brings me to this place- the intersection of your life and mine.
My goal and my challenge to others who may do me the honor of taking the time to stop here for moment is this- to describe three things every day that I am thankful for without repeating to to the extent possible. In other words, I am incredibly thankful for my family and friends but I promise not to be lazy in this endeavor by invoking those particular blessings several times a week. Those are givens for me. Rather, I will reflect on each day about things I experienced in each particular day. What I hope to accomplish in myself is a sense of swimming free rather than treading water and just trying to stay afloat. I hope the same for you.
Having said all of that, I now say "welcome". Let's you and I travel this journey of living together, if only for a few moments.
